I have been a sickly child. Mostly due to my kidneys and bladder problems. But then when I was 17, I had a bone tumor and it seems like everything got progressively worse from there.
This last week I spent my weekend in the hospital again.
Early Friday morning at work(I work the grave shift), probably around 2 am, my left kidney started to have a pain. It got worse and worse. At 3:45 I asked to go home to get some pain medicine. Last month i was in the ER for 7 hours when they finally told me I had a kidney stone after several tests and a CT Scan and it would pass in a couple of days. So for about 2 1/2 weeks I drank nothing but water and lots of it, but no stone appeared. So I figured i had just missed it. But then on Friday it was the exact same pain in the exact same place, except much worse. At about 4:45 I was struggling bad. I got up to go to the bathroom, but the pain was so bad I couldn't remember what i was doing. I had to have help walking to the bathroom where I proceeded to sit on the floor and cry. I ended up throwing up from the pain and by 6 could hardly move. They wheeled me out on a wheelchair and drove me home. My mom then took me to the hospital where they did more blood work.
They came in and looked at my kidneys, decided there was some infection and then forgot about me for a couple of hours. I had one doctor come back and tell me it was a whole new stone and that they were sending me home with more medicine and that I would be OK in a couple of days. About an hour later I had another doctor come in and tell me its the exact same stone and it stuck and I have a urinary tract infection and that the urology department wanted me to have another scan.
So I went in for more radiation, they came back and told me that urology wanted to place a stint in me to clear a path for my urine to get around the stone and exit my body the way its supposed to, instead of being backed up like it is, because that's dangerous. They also told me I had a cyst on my ovaries...
So I stayed over night in the hospital and the next morning I had the operation and the stint was placed. I would have it for a week and hopefully the stone would pass. If the stone doesn't pass they might have to leave the stint in or have another operation to take the stone out.
In the meantime, it is very painful to pee and very bloody. I have a constant pain in my stomach where I can feel the stint, I have bladder spasms that hurt so bad I throw up, some very strong antibiotics and a sore irritated throat(they had to put a scope down my throat to see what was going on).
I am very miserable and in much pain. I feel bad because my daughter wants me to get down and play which I can only do for a couple of minutes. it hurts when she climbs on me and when she wiggles. I want to be able to play and have fun, but my body won't allow that right now.
I am so tired of having this problems and am ready to tell them to just take it out. i don't need two kidneys, just one.
I just hope that Lily never has to go through anything like this.
But each experience brings new knowledge and that can never be replaced or forgotten.
